are herbal remedies a con? Has anyone got their man to use them with results?

I've just been reading up on what can boost male fertility,there was about 12 or so different types of tablets and the recommended doses for each was 3 tabs daily and should be taken for at least 3 months (my man would be rattling) I'm not going to rush out and buy anything until after we have been to the fertility clinic (could still be ages off... not received an appointment yet) and would be pointless until we know what they will do to him (no sperm count... could be a blockage,which sometimes they can repair,or use fine needle aspiration to retrieve sperm.... or maybe they just mixed his results up with someone elses.. wishful thinking I know) would it be worth pumping DH full of remedies?
