Private fertility testing
Just wondering if anyone has gone for fertility tests privately? We have had all the standard NHS tests and are currently undergoing treatment (one failed IUI and another on the way).
I can't help thinking that after over two years of trying and not finding anything wrong with either of us that there must be something wrong which the NHS simply don't test for. We'd like to look into having some further tests done privately but not sure what they would test for or how much it may cost.

It must be frustrating to be in the "unexplained fertility" bracket...
We had all the usual tests under the NHS but it was obvious the problem was on my husbands side. When the local hospital found no sperm we then referred ourselves for a private consultation (Northampton Care) to see what our options were.
I have heard that sometimes the woman can produce a high number of natural killer cells that effectively destroys any embryo as it sees it as foreign. Another reason could be if you and your OH have similar genes again your body will reject any embryo. there are some clinics that specialise in immune testing. Also if the blood supply to your lining isn't sufficient it might not support an implanted embryo...
If you go to the care fertility bulletin board and look at the immune testing part they might have more information about testing/costs etc?

I have been having private fertility treatment and unfortunately I have been asking your same questions of this (are they missing something). I had an ultrasound and blood tests on NHS and that was as far as they would take us after a year TTC as we already have a child. So we found ourselves a fairly convenient private hospital after searching online and emailing a few. At our first consultation (??100) he took swabs from me (apx ??100) and then booked me in for HSG (??250) and hubby for SA (??100) (apparently he has super-sperm!). Then, even though I supposedly ovulate (we have secondary unexplained fertility), I was put on clomid (apx ??10?)for 3 months and then Letrozole/Femara (apx ??49pm) for 3 months to induce ovulation which meant having a TVS scan each month (??240). Unfortunately these 6 months were not successful. My next step would be IUI (apx ??1000) or IVF (apx ??3000) but we are not going down this route yet.
We've been TTC over 2 years now and it's so frustrating. People tell me I just need to stop thinking about it but I find that extremely difficult. I'm also trying homeopathy and reflexology and might also try DuoFertility. I'll try anything to get a sibling for my daughter!
