What to expect during investigations
hi ladies, in new to the long term trying threads, we have been ttc for 11 months now and are being referred to specialists in the next few weeks, I've already had blood work done and my partner had semen analysis. All normal. I had regular cycles so I'm just wondering what you think they will do? I doubt they will put me on cookie but wondered what usually happens at the first appointment? Thanks

In my experience the specialists didnt do too much at the first appointment. They take all your background & history and then we had day 21 bloods, semen analysis, I organised a scan of ovaries privately... If you're having regular cycles then I don't think they'll try Clomid or medication like that. I have heard of some places checking egg reserve/quality.
We were trying for 18months after a missed miscarriage and then fell pregnant but lost that one too. Now we're pregnant again and 13 weeks :-)
I guess you've tried Agnus Castus... one thing that I think helped this time round was Seven Seas Trying for a Baby- I'd 100% recommend them. I was then also prescribed progesterone pessaries when I fell pregnant and will be on them until 15weeks.

We are a bit longer on the TTC boat but had to wait as the GP wont refer you until 12 months + in our county.
I'm similar to you. Normal SA, normal/ regular cycle of between 26-31 days and I am ovulating ever month. Clomid wasn't the first suggestion for me.
They want to do a dye spill test first. I also have heavy painful periods so they are concerned that I may have Endo so they are going to do the laparoscopy with dye test instead of the standard HSG test.
You just have to fill in a load of forms and then the registrar will talk you through them, be prepared to know your cycle inside and out!
I wrote a blog post on my experience the other day, but it's a bit negative so I won't share as I don't want to be a debbie downer on here!

From my experience, the first time I met with our FS, he wanted all the tests my OB had already carried out repeated in his clinic. He looked at the results so far, and asked what part of my cycle I was at. He then explained in brief the various procedures available for MF infertility that he can offer and then asked if we'd like to start with a natural IUI that cycle. He sent DH off for another Sperm test on the same day. Your FS will probably do the same. This is just to confirm that those count numbers are as stated and also to check that the morphology problem is not just a once off and many other stuff. After getting all these preliminary information, he then explained to me what the plan would be. Generally, he asked me to call the clinic on CD 1 and let them know. After this I would then be told when to go in for my first BT. My FS advised that I would probably have my first BT on about CD 8 and depending on the results, there would be a few more. He also added that as I got closer to O, he would do a few follicle watches with us. He decided to do 2-3 cycle of monitoring with no drugs before he decided which treatment was most suitable...He also said to give each course of treatment 6 months to work before we moved on to the next option. Hopefully, by the time the appointment is over, you will have some sort of plan with a clear direction of how to go about every single detail. Hope this helps, let us know how it goes.
Hi there! If possible it would be good to ask your GP to get your bloods tested more than once. (In case the clinic will insist on this). And also make sure your smear is up to date and ask the practise nurse to give you a chlymdia test. Treatment will not be given before these basic tests are done. When I had my first app the doctor ordered: 2nd semen analysis, more blood tests for me, chlymdia test, full blood count tests. Also transvaginal scan - to check health of uterus/cervix, check for fibroids and cysts. I believe the procedure is likely to be the same in most places. Hugs x
