Weaning? How much?

Hi everyone,

just looking for weaning advice really. I started weaning hannah almost 2 weeks ago when she was 5 months. She was so ready, all the signs and also not gaining weight - only 2 oz in a month. And I'm pleased to say she has taken to it really really well. After 3 days she was diving for the spoon and clearing the pot and has done every meal since. I started feeding once a day at lunch time and introduced a 5pm solid feed yesterday. But I'm worried I'm giving her too much. Today for lunch she had almost a full jar- only stopped as u was concerned she shouldn't have as much. Then for tea she had three large ice cubes of veg and one of pear. Again finishing the lot!! I've kept her breast feeding the same so not substituting milk for solids. Does this seem alot for a five and a bit month old?

Thanks
Helen x

Sara is now on three meals a day and 4 6oz bottles, she has breakfast, porridge (I don't measure it) but then for lunch 3 ice cubes of veg and half a pot of banana custard or a yogurt, then for tea 3 more cubes of veg and a fruit cube

What you've said Hannah has doesn't sound excessive - but then some people might think what I'm giving Sara is excessive!

I think i'm right in saying that you can't overfeed babies until they reach about 1yr old, as if they over-eat they'll just bring the excess back up - nice!

Mummies know best - sure you're doing exactly right

we are on 3 meals a day

porridge and a 7oz bottle for brekkie
a 6oz bottle mid morning (he has been refusing this this week)
a jar for lunch and yougurt and 6oz of juice
a 6oz bottle mid afternoon (he has started to drop this too)
4/5 cubes of veg and gravy and a fruit pot
    9oz bottle for bed

jacob has let me know when he has had enough, just like with his milk intake, i wouldnt worry if she seems happy and is gaining weight well, jacob has been dropping a lot of milk but making up for it with dairy

we have also started to introduce finger food, he plays with it more than anything but seems to enjoy it!
