baby finally here!!!

Well so after going 10 days overdue, our gorgeous baby boy is finally here!!!

My waters started to break at 10.30pm on Friday night, so at about 2 am when they didn't stop leaking we rang the maternity triage who asked us pop in, they checked me over confirmed waters were leaking and sent us home with instructions to go back at 10.30pm that night if contractions hadn't started. Got back home about 4am....at 6am I had my first contraction, then started building until by midday they were really strong but about 10 mins apart, but I wasn't coping with the pain so rang the hosp but as expected was told too early to go in, left it for another 2 hours by which time the contractions were every 4-5 mins, this time the hosp said to go in for a check...we did and was told I was 3cm and being admitted!

Things went really quickly then, by 6pm I was 5 cm and moved from antenatal ward to labour ward, still only on gas and air at this point, by 10.30pm I thought I was about 7cm and really wanting an epidurdal as the pain was too much, however was told I was fully dilated and ready to push baby out! My response was no, that can't be right it's too soon and I've not had enough drugs!!! But push I did, and push and push but then baby got himself stuck so was told to stop pushing.....well once u start it's almost impossible to not push thru a contraction but my lovely midwife and hubby did great job helping me breathe thru them, but 4 hrs later nothing had changed and bubs was getting distressed,so we ended up being rushed into theatre for an emergency epidural and a forceps delivery....15 mins later at 2.29 am on Sunday 15th Jan, Lewis John was born...but his cord was wrapped round his neck and the last couple of hours meant it took him a while to get breathing, it was horrible not hearing him but then after a few moments a big old cry came out, it was the best sound!!!

Lewis is now doing really well, we are still in hosp as he is on antibiotics as he was delivered over 24 hrs after my waters had started to go, but hopefully we will be home soon.

I have had about 3 hours sleep in last 3 days but I couldn't be happier!!!

good luck to everyone else still to go
