When is day one?

Hi there everyone,

Hope you can help me out with something that has been confusing me.

I Know that day one is the first day of your period. But before I get red blood (sorry tmi) I get about 2 or 3 days of brownish discharge. Do I count day one from brown discharge or red blood. If I count brown stuff that makes AF about 10 days long (which is quite long)!

As ever I am confused, any ideas anyone???? xxx $:\$ ?

I had the same, counted day 1 as the first day of proper bleed, which was usually the day after the period pain started and 3 days after mucky brown discharge.

Just means you have to have lots more practice at baby making between day 10 and day 20. I was told to work it out by counting back by 14 days from day next period is due, more accurate if your cycle is not smack on 28 days.

Thanks for that. I've been counting from first day of mucky brown discharge lol!!! I will wait for red blood now. xxx
