Brown bleeding a week before period due

Can anyone shed some light on this...I supposedly started my "period" but it's a week early had a bit of belly ache cramps before the light brown bleed started was in my pad a tiny bit and when I wiped, it's now just a little heavier but not enough to be regularly changing my pad, I've had no pain and it's the 3rd day in had no red blood at all just light brown /dark brown. I also had a light spotting for one day on the 5th of this month for one day then nothing until Sunday just gone. Anyone have any advice?
