Ovulation tests? Ending the pill?

What ovulation tests are recommended? I've seen so many mixed reviews I don't know what to buy. 
for those of you who are on the birth control pill how long after stopping the pill did you start ovulating again?

    I always assumed the tests were simple but I see so many posts of people struggling to know if their ovulation test is positive or not. I don't want to be questioning constantly if I am reading it correctly
