Over feeding

Our newborn baby Ella (6 weeks 3 days) has a massive appetite, she regularly over feeds causing fairly spectacular vomiting, is there any thing we can do to distract her from needing food. We have been told that we need to just let her cry but it feels wrong. We're strong believers in feed in demand but she just seems to keep needing, over the last hour she has drunk 240ml of baby formula (I can't breastfeed her and leave her satisfied). We'd ideally not use hungry baby milk because we've heard it causes more bloating and constipation. any advice would be amazing.
