Vegetable Tempoura!

My OH would like me to attempt to make some this lunch time.. I know it's veggies in batter fried with sweet Chilli sauce!

But, how do i make batter & what sort of veg can I use? I have a little idea but if anyone actaully has made it a shove in the right direction wouldn't go a miss!
