Swollen nipple area in 3 week old?

Matilda is 3 weeks tomorrow and I noticed today that her nipple areas are quite swollen. I looked it up on the internet and I think this is quite common but I am not BF. I am more curious as she does not seem too well (pooing too frequently). I'm taking her to the GP tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else's LO had this, when it went and whether it was linked to an infection or anything?

like Cornetto said I think it takes a while for your hormones to go out of them. When my lo was a week or two old I was changing her and noticed a little drop of milk on her nipple.

Just wanted to agree with Cornetto - my dd had this for a few weeks as well. The hv just said to keep an eye on it but it was prob just my hormones still being in her system $:\$ ) x
