Slower weight gain this week

Hi ladies

Hoping for a bit of reassurance!

Olyvia is 8 weeks, 2 days and until this week she has put on an average of 6 or 7oz a week but this last week she has only gained 3 1/2oz. Is this normal/ok for a smaller gain like this at times?

Thanks, NN and Olyvia xxx

Hi NN, hope you are well. Try not to worry about the smaller weight gain. They cant keep gaining the same amount every week. If it continues and your HV is worried then fine, but i wouldnt panic. MY mum (who is a nurse) always says they should triple their birth weight in 6 months, so she couldnt possibly keep gaining big amounts.

My wee scone was 7lb1 at birth and went down to 6lb3 after 3 days. He was back up to 7lb7 by the time he was nearly 2 weeks and is now 8lb11 today which is a week later!!!

Well done for sticking with the breast feeding. How is it going???

hey NN - soo normal. My lo was gaining 8ozs a week but then slowed to between 3 and 4 ozs. As long as they stay on their line there is no need to be concerned xxxx

NN - very normal indeed, don't worry image

Gemm, triple their birth weight by 6 months?!! Are you sure? My son was 8lb 2oz at birth and is now 18lb 14oz at 9 months...

To have been over 24lbs at 6 months would have made him huuuuuuge!!! x

The lady on the breastfeeding live webchat told me it's double their birth weight by 6 months:
