I have one of the extra large body pillows that is shaped like a giant V I can use it as a pillow for my head and both arms go all the way down to my knees either side.
It has been a godsend to me as I suffer from really bad SPD and have to turn over regularly (every 1/2 hour to 1hour) during the night. Having one this big means that I don't have to move the pillow everytime I turn as it is already there. It supports my ever increasing bump at the same time as supporting my hips as it is a decent cushion for between my knees.
i would definately recommend one as it can be used as a BF cushion (if you choose to) after the birth and also a cushion to support baby when you put baby down for a second as it is easy to change into different shapes.
I got mine off ebay at a reasonable price here is the one I got got one that came with pillow case though)

I don't even care if it takes up too much space...OH can sleep on the floor hehe!!

I ought to point out that I'm a "hot" person - i.e. I can't have OH touching me in bed when I'm sleeping as I get too hot.
I got back and bump ache at 12-14 weeks because bump wasn't big enough to rest on the bed but was heavy enough to pull my muscles. I personally found that one of the really flat pillows from my spare bed (cheapo ones ) was much better as it just went under my bump. The dream genii required me to have it between my legs which, whilst being fairly comfy, was just tooooo hot! ops:
I also felt like I was taking up too much space and pushing OH out of bed - looking back now he had loads of room compared to my current bump!
Incidentally, I've not needed a pillow for weeks and found that when I got to 18-20 weeks that bump was big enough to rest on the bed
I had a dream genie one last time and couldn't get on with it as I still had to turn it over everytime I moved. This one is bliss and yes it does take up a lot of room but for me its worth it - my husband reckons after the birth it will be a good contraceptive as I have a physical barrier blocking him!!
My 4 year old reckons he is having it for his bed afterwards as he loves snuggling up in it.
Good luck with finding a pillow that suits you
I also wake up at night, mentally always check that I'm lying on my side and go back to sleep........weird!
I do keep pushing the one behind me half off the bed though so when I roll onto it when I'm turning over I nearly fall out of bed. That wakes me up good and proper.
I think that's what 9 months of tiredness, and not sleeping properly is for. Preparing us. I find it funny when people say at the end 'make sure you get all the sleep you can, because you won't be getting any when baby is here!' I'm like....I havn't had any for 9 months, why would the last few weeks make any difference! hehe
