Why have I scared myself by googling?
I've noticed a mole on my leg has changed colour and risen up a bit so what did I do? Googled it of course and it brought up a load of stuff about skin cancer and now I'm shitting myself. No appointments at the doctors for a week and I'm panicking.

step away from google!
How much has it raised and what significance colour change are we talking? It's always best to get these things checked out but it really probably is nothing.
Do get it checked out, do you have a walk in centre that you could perhaps visit.
stop googling! but still get it checked and don tpanic!
Just make a doctors appointment! No more googling!
I've had a few dodgy things cut out, really quick and painless, they send it off for analysis (bluergh) and then you get a call to say hopefully its all fine.
Belle the middle of it has changed to black. Its slightly raised.
I had similar on my back a few years back, had it removed, was sent off, not a problem. BUT DO get it checked out. Can you ask the doctor to call you back and ask if its ok to be seen quicker?
IIRC our local Boots did a mole check service (it was advertised as free for a while, so i'd guess there is a charge. Superdrug seem to do a similar thing, might be worth going for peace of mind?

you need to get that checked, good on you for being vigilant. make the gp appt and dont panic
Thanks ladies, I'll ring the gps again tomorrow to see if they can squeeze me in.
Even if it turns out to be nothing bloody good on you for checkign and getting it checked out. Better to be safe than sorry
Thanks QI, I'm now starting to doubt myself and think it's not a mole and just a dark freckle - how thick do I sound ha ha.
Did you make an appt?
I've got an appt for Tuesday morning. I feel a bit stupid going actually.
Don't. Always better to be safe than sorry.
Very true.
How's your mole now? Sorry to just drop off like this. I know this post is very old but I just recently launched a blog and I just covered "googling symptoms" (http://whenaiblog.com/life-and-style/doctor-google/) I'm sure a lot of people can relate! Haha! Hope you can drop by to read it. Thanks guys!
