norethisterone 5mg tablets...

Hiya

I was just wondering if norethisterone 5mg tablets are a contraceptive? I have literally googled it everywhere and some people are saying it is and some are saying it isn't. 

I got these of the doc as I go away tomorow and don't want a period.
