Breaking Bad doll, with pretend bag of meth, withdrawn from sale: right move or overreaction?

Hello, hello.

Toys R Us stores in the US are pulling from the shelves a series of collectible dolls (see pics below) based on the characters of the hit TV series Breaking Bad after over 8000 people signed a petition, started by a Florida mum, to have them withdrawn.

The dolls, modelled on four of the main characters in the TV series – which is about a high school chemistry teacher who turns into a crystal meth dealer – come with accessories such as bags of meth and cash.

Toys R Us originally defended the sale of the dolls, pointing out that they were only stocked in limited quantities in the 'adult action figure area' of their stores.

But, when it became clear that the petition to have them removed had attracted so many signatures, the toy retailer changed tack and announced: "Let's just say, the action figures have taken an indefinite sabbatical."

But what do you think? Were Toys R Us right to remove the dolls from shelves? Or was the Florida mum - and those who signed her petition – overreacting?

Do please let us know your thoughts!
