Regular contraction for two days unfavourable cervix

hey guys, ive been having regular contractions at around eight minutes apart for the past 48 hours, however today when I saw my midwife she said my cervix was still high but medium. I’ve lost my mucus plug loads of it through contractions. However with my first child I never went into labour and after speaking to an anaesthetist who told  I wasn’t likely to go into labour this time or at least actually give birth I was just wondering is anyone else has had any of this and actually given birth naturally? Sorry for the long post I’m 41 weeks, haven’t slept for what seems like a lifetime and am completely fed up xx
