Still bleeding 5 weeks after miscarriage

Hi I haven't used this site before but just wondered if anyone had any advise. I started bleeding on the 7/1/16 and was around 12 weeks pregnant. Went for a scan to be informed that the baby stopped growing at about 7 weeks. I bled quite heavily for about 10 days then nothing for about 10 days But now I'm bleeding on and off every few days. It's quite light and I've just assumed that it's my body trying to get back to normal but I'm not sure. I did a pregnancy test 3 weeks after which was negative. Any advise would be great. This was my first pregnancy and want to try again as soon as possible. Thanks
