Anyone else feel like me?

Hello!

I am looking for someone who has been through post natal depression or maybe someone who is overcoming their own struggle. Advice please! Or support!

my daughter is 6 months old, I also have a 3 year old and I also run a business.

i feel as though I am in post natal depression denial! I have had physical symptoms (blurred vision, muscle twitches, panic attacks, anxiety) and I am convinced that they are not post natal depression, but an illness of some kind. I am self diagnosing myself all day every day. I am Google doctor obsessed!

i have been to 8 different doctors, and all tell me I am not unwell- even a referal to an eye specialist and I am not convinced!

Can anyone relate? Is hypochondria and physical symptoms like mine  a symptom of post natal depression? Or are my docs just not taking me seriously?

thank you!

Hi, it sounds like you're pushing yourself to the limit. After my son was born I was also under huge stress, and I kept telling the doctor that I didn't feel right. Finally after a year of hardly being able to pick up my son ( and not one person to help) I was finally diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Doctor was surprised cause I wasn't skinny! It's sort of hard to explain all of your symptoms when you're running around and you know what the doctor is thinking. Anyways it was a huge relief and since starting the medication my life has changed and feeling great.       I think you need to take some time off and see how you feel( even a few hours doing something really relaxing. Take it really really easy and see how you feel after. If your symptoms are really still obvious while taking it as easy as possible then probably you have something going on and in that case annoy the hell out of the doctor until they completely check you ( bring a written list of symptoms). I hope everything works out for you and your little ones cause these are special years and you need your strength ( sorry for the looooong msg) because

Hi it kind of sounds like you need time off, stretching yourself too far is a bad idea but I'm not sure its pnd...but I'm no Dr!

I can only go from my experience and it was awful, I didn't want to get out of my bed and didn't feel worthy to be a mum and I felt I was the most awful mom In the world and baby would be better if I stayed far away so I couldn't even pick him up at one point but the midwife picked up on it and I got help and together with hubbys support I got my head sorted out but it took time.

It sounds like you are looking for medical intervention but in the wrong place, speak to midwife or health visitor and they can help with initial feelings and gp can assist if meds are needed but I found that the positives in each day were the main objective, I had to look at the day in much smaller units and take each at a time - feed time :tick done successfully - bath time : tick done sucsessfully etc and learned to realise I alone couldn't do it all.

Be kind to yourself hun, you are doing a lot with 2 small kids and a business - I think you need and deserve " me time too" and don't be to hard on yourself, asking someone else to take over while you take a looong bubble bath is not a failure just a reasonable request to keep mom sane lol, if you have to support take a night off and go have fun with the girls etc, plan something fun- no kids allowed!!!!

Oh and step away from the Google Dr....you cam convince yourself you have oritze river fever if you want to online but it won't do you any favours, if your gp is happy and your symptoms aren't concrete I'd say stress is a big factor in panick atacks and blurred vision etc and muscle twitches could mean you would benefit from yoga !

I'm not trying to be mean or harsh - just offering a different perspective!!

If the symptoms persist of course go see gp but they are indicative of stress too!!
