Operation on Foot at 28 weeks

I was just wondering if anyone has had an operation whilst pregnant or known anybody that has
I broke my fifth metatarsal (foot) last week and all was well until Tuesday when I noticed that my ankles have started to swell due to being pregnant and the cast that they put on had become tight.
I ended up going to minor injuires last night to have it changed but the lady said there was no point and she would just split the cast down the middle and bandage it up and this would be ok for a couple of weeks.
After coming home last night my partner felt that I shouldn't be weight bearing on a broken foot so he decided this morning to give the fracture clinic a ring to see what they say.
In the end we were told to come in and they would replaster me and get a dr to check it over. Once I got there and had the old one removed the dr wanted an xray just to make sure everything was ok before giving me an inflatable support to wear. This is where we found out that the break has become worse and he was debating wether to send me up to have it screwed today.
After speaking to the head dr on duty they both came to the conclusion that they were not 100 % sure what to do. They decided in the end to re plaster me and book me in to see the foot specialist when he comes back to work on tuesday.
They have told me to be prepared to be operated on on Tuesday, so nil by mouth and to bring a bag and this has really frightened me.
They have given no advice to how the surgery will be carried out and what, if any, risks there will be to baby.
By next tuesday I'll be 28 + 2.
