scan worrie

Im 38+4wks and had a scan on monday, the Doc said my placenta was 'gritty' and the baby hadnt grew much. The last few scans ive had the growth rate had been slow is this due to the 'gritty' placenta.

what is a 'gritty' placenta?

I dont smoke/drink and im not near people who smoke/drink. they said they would keep an eye on me but she never explaned what the gritty placenta is. I am worried but they say my babys heart beat is strong but they still want to keep an eye on me.

    Hi Flump,

From what I've seen on the internet, I think it means when the placenta starts to deteriorate towards the end of pregnancy. Maybe it's because you're at the final stages of pregnancy so the placenta is slowing down.

Try not to worry though, I'm sure if it was serious they would want you to stay in.

    Good luck xxx
