Ecv experiences?

so today I had a growth scan to check baby isn't too big at 32 weeks, during the scan we found that my little monkey had flipped from the head down position she has been in since 20 weeks, to breech. 

I am now waiting 4 weeks for another scan to check she has flipped her naughty bottom back around but in the meantime researching the alternatives should this not be the case. 

Is it as painful as they say? How long after the scan did you have to wait for the appointment at which the ecv was permormed?
