i believe it's to do with salmonella poisioning, which u can get if you don't cook eggs properly, so by hard boiling of frying until the yolk is hard you eliminate the risk, boring i know cause i'm really missing runny eggs, but better to be safe than sorry!!! xxx

Hi, there is a risk of getting food poisoning from salmonella from runny or raw eggs, as cooking eggs thoroughly, i.e. until they're hard, kills the bacteria. You're at more risk of catching salmonella when you're pregnant as you immune system is weaker to stop your body rejecting the baby, and if you do get it you'll get a worse case of it. This NHS link does say salmonella poisoning is unlikely to harm the baby though: http://www.nhs.uk/chq/pages/917.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=131&r=1&rtitle=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nhs.uk%2Fchq+-+917%3FCategoryID%3D54%26SubCategoryID%3D131

due to the risk of listeria and salmonella poisoning, a runny egg is a raw egg. altho the risk of axtually catching this is low, the effects if u do on an unborn baby are simply not worth it, also as niblet quite rightly says u are more likely to get this when preggers as ur immune system is much lower. same goes for home made mayonaisse, mousses etc as it is raw egg. its a pain but sacrificing the odd runny egg will be worth it in the long run.
