PLEASE HELP: Can you have a faint positive line while spotting/bleeding??

Hi everyone,

I am brand new to this website and group chat, but I have been following in the shadows ever since my husband and I have been TTC since February 2019. I am hoping that someone can be kind enough to give me some insight as to whether or not am I pregnant after a recent turn of events that have occurred this weekend.

Just to offer up some back story, my husband and I have been TTC since February of this year. We have been married for over four years, and this will be our first child, so I have never been pregnant before. For these past 8 or so months, I have diligently tracked my cycle, marked the days when we had sex, and I purchased an ovulation kit from First Response so I could start tracking my ovulation. Over time, I felt more and more anxious and upset over, what to felt to me, like failures, so I reached out to my doctor about having us both tested this past August. My husband went to a fertility specialist and I had an ultrasound completed, and both tests returned completely fine. A couple of weeks ago, my doctor informed me that the next test we can try is a hysterosalpingography, which basically translates to the blue dye x-ray. I decided that if we are unsuccessful after this most recent cycle, I would try that, next.

Well, fast-forward to two weeks later, and I am on day 27 of my cycle, which is exactly when my cycle is due (I usually receive my period anywhere between day 22 and 27, so I would officially be late tomorrow). I decided to try and take a pregnancy test this morning, even though it has brought on feelings of frustration before, because something felt a little different this time around. I don't have any cramping that usually foreshadows my periods, and I feel absolutely exhausted, although to be fair, I am always exhausted, and the weather has been poor here lately. Well, I used a First Response Early Result test this morning, and I was so shocked to see a second, albeit very faint, pink line appear after only a few minutes! I have been so upset during the process of TTC, so you can imagine how excited we were to see the test; it felt like something straight out of movie scene because we were both hugging each other, and I was crying. Granted, I realize that it is very faint, and part of me does not want to get my hopes up, so I know I will have to test again in two days. But just seeing a second line and pictures online for comparison has given me hope.

However, fast-forward to a few hours later, I went to the restroom, and there was a little bit of blood when I wiped. Some of it was brownish-rustish colored, but at one point it was a little bright red. I tried not to worry, and I went about my day, and when I took frequent bathroom breaks, the blood was gone. However, I just went again, towards the end of the day, and again, there was a streak of rust colored blood. I am trying not to worry, but I can't help myself. Basically, my question is this; does anyone know if I am truly pregnant? The second line was definitely there, although again it was faint, so I am unsure of how to interpret it. I had assumed I was pregnant after that, so if the test is correct, could this be implantation bleeding, or do you think it is my period arriving since it could technically arrive still today? And should I call my doctor's office when they open tomorrow morning, or should I just wait it out and see what my test says again in two days? I plan to purchase two different brands this time to compare. Also, I took an ovulation kit test, and I got the smiley face on days 14 and 15, so I am about 11 or 12 DPO.

If anyone has anyone similar experiences, both good and bad, I would love to hear them while I wait anxiously. I am trying to keep my mind occupied as I watch and wait to retest by reading and grading papers (I am a teacher), but it isn't easy. Sorry for the long-winded story!

Thanks in advance!

Test again in a few days. A little bit of spotting is okay as long as it's not with cramping. Might be a good idea to get some bloods done too.  Good luck!
