Adoption advice (also in toddlers and older children).

Hello there

I'm gatecrashing, hope you don't mind, but thought someone may be able to help me.

We are currently looking at the possibility of adopting. We are very much at the information gathering part of the process at the moment, and I wanted to try and find some "real world" experiences of successful adoption to give me hope!

So if anyone has adopted their child/ren and wouldn't mind sharing their story, please do! We are of course particularly interested in finding out how long it REALLY takes - my local authority say that it takes a minimum of nine months to become approved, then once approved you are matched, and this can take some time - perhaps years!

Thank you in advance
Saraxx

Hi i have phoned around adoption agencies and was told the same i had the books sent out to me i also looked into fostering as i was told this takes less time but was told if i foster then i cant adopt at a later date. and also because i have a 4 year old i was told i could only adopt and 8 year old and up.

i was sad as i wanted to adop a baby. i have been tying to get info since my boy was 2 and keep getting told there has to be a 4 year age gap between children.

sorry dont think i have helped really but thought id share, good luck xxx
