HELP!!! PLEASE!!! UNDESCENDED TESTICLES ADVISE

Hi.. My son is 3 years old, and I asked the health visitor when he was 2 to check his 'balls' cos i couldnt feel his testicles in the sack.. and if i could it was cos i manually pushed them down from his groin area. She said they might still come down, and not to worry till he was 3.
He is now 3 and 2 months, and I asked her to check them again today, and she said he definitly needs refering to a specialist, with a view to an operation to pull them down!!
Im gutted, as you can imagine, I really dont want him to have to go through surgery, and i think he will also remember it in the future.
But now, after reading up about it on the internet, I hav now found that the op really should be done between the age of 1 and 2 and no later, or problems will occur.
1 problem is that his testicles will have problems producing sperm the longer you delay the operation. My heart has sank, and i just adore my son so much, and just dont know what to do.... God knows how long i will have to wait for an appointment, never mind the operation.

I was wondering if anyone else has a son who has had to have this operation, and how were they after the operation, and at what age was it done??

Thanks caz xxx

Hi Hun My son is 13months old & also has undescended testes, we were referred when he was 6months old & going to see specialist again in couple of weeks for a check up. But so far no op! I'm not too worried tho as my brother had the same problem only they didn't discover it till he was 21. He had the op then & has had no ill affects on his sperm or anything. So stay positive. Good luck.
