cough remedies/medicine help pls

hi there,

i know all this jargon/restrictions about childrens medicine is out there but i'm trying to help my son.

he's got a terrible cough had it for what seems ages now, first i waited for it to clear on its own - (kept his fluids up etc) then i asked a pharmasist advise on what i could do - He said nothing (clearly not a parent!), then i went to my HV - she said do him warm honey & lemon drinks, so i have spent the last 2 days making up these drinks but he wont drink thought i'd made 'em to strong/weak etc then added blackcurrent juice/sugar etc wont touch them at all in ANY combination so.................... after lots of babbling

your advice please - He's 2 next friday!!!!!

when my son had an awfull barking cough a few weeks back i used calcough which is for chesty coughs. coincidence maybe but after using this it cleared in two days.
now i know your son isnt two for a week (the medicine is for two plus) but i really cant imagine it would do any harm! (with a weeks difference) after all he isnt going to develop or grow much more in a week so i think if its generally that bad maybe give him some. x

Vicks vapour rub you can use on their chest and back at lo's age, also, with Eoin, at bathtime I would dissolve some in hot water and leave on shelf in bathroom .. and during bath the vapours do wonders. hope lo gets better soon xxx
