Advice on Prem Twins Development

My boys were born at 31+3 weighing 4lb and 3lb15 now at 12 weeks (3 weeks corrected) they weigh 9lb7 and 9lb8, they feed ok nearly 5oz about every 4 hours and have started going longer between feeds at night. They feed then mostly sleep. The question is they seem to stay awake after their late afternoon feed which is fine, but all they seem to do is cry, they not hungry, cold and have clean nappies but they just dont seem to know how to just sit and look at mobile or toys etc. Plus they hate having their clothes off as well. I have a 16 month old and he went full term and is so different to how they are he would just sit and watch and hardly ever cried. Just finding it hard to know what to do with them even if you sit and cuddle them they OK for a while but then cry and it is a sorry for me cry. Any ideas?!?!? is it just the fact that they still small and ned to catch up.

Hi Soda. My twins were 7.5 weeks prem and 3lbs 8 when born. We went through quite a bit of crying with them when we finally got them home from the hospital (after 2 long months). We termed the late afternoon period the 'witching hour' as they seemed to (and still do) cry for no reason. Maybe they just need peace & quiet, could you put them somewhere quiet and restful, e.g. in your bedroom? We found Classic FM calmed our 2 down! Or I agree with Sarah, they could be colicky - have you tried infacol, that seemed to work for us.
Grace did also have problems with constipation & reflux - maybe you could check with the docs just to rule things out? But if it's only that time in the afternoon, then it doesn't sound likely. I think maybe they're just getting tired towards the end of the day. They're still only teeny weeny (bless).

Not much help - sorry! Hope it gets better.
