To those who have said shame it's not the birth I wanted, it's not that. It was completely what I asked for. However, I had been "deceived" by media, TV programmes, photos etc to the extent that I had it in my mind that a home water birth would be all music, dim lights, scented candles and a calm, relatively pain free experience. Naïvely it hadn't crossed my mind that in the middle of the day after no sleep for nearly 48hrs, I may get just as distressed, still bleed too much, and find it hard. (even midwives said it had been a difficult labour). 24+ hrs on though, I am still glad I stayed home, however in future I will try to have more realistic expectations!!
