Ah I’m sorry Lise :( I know how hard it is, there’s nothing that can reassure you either. Just waiting on your body to do it’s thing

I’d definitely pOAS at 10dpo with first morning urine tomorrow - on countdown to pregnancy (a website) I think it says like 84% of women know by 10dpo with a standard test so if use a first response you should be good to go.

id always rather know though - it’s rubbish to see only one line but at least then you can get your head around it either way! and it could very well be bFp!

How are you doing on your 2nd round emylou?

Did you test Mrs BeeL? How's things with your second round Emy Lou?

Good thanks! Literally no side effects at all so far! Only got tomorrow left :)

Just found out I have got an appointment with our fertility dr in 3 weeks to check things which is good.

    Yes MrsBeeL did you test?

    You ok Lise?

Hi girls, I hope you don't mind me joining!

I have been ttc my first baby for just over a year now, I have PCOS and don't have any periods or ovulate naturally. I had the hsg test and my tubes are clear and my husbands sperm count is good. My gynae consultant told me my hormone levels were as low as somebody that had been through the menopause even though I'm only 25! I have been referred to a fertility specialist but the waiting list is huge, so have been given clomid while I wait. Had my first cycle of 50mg in November and on cd16 and 17 I had my first ever positive opk! Bloods on day 21 confirmed I had ovulated,I was so excited and hopeful but then AF arrived. On my second cycle of 50mg I didn't ovulate which I thought was really strange! Gonna be starting my third cycle next week but doubling the dose to 100mg. Feel like any positive I get there's a knock back straight after! I'm also a nightmare for goggle and self diagnosing, would love to be able to share stories with others going through the same thing as me.

    Hi Georgia

Yeah course you can join it's nice to have a little support group. Fingers crossed third time lucky for you.

Do you mind me asking of AF came naturally and on what day? I've had my first round and no bfp or AF and it's CD35 for me now. I just want to get started with second round I also have PCOS and very irregular periods

AF arrived cd29 naturally  after first cycle, so restarted Clomid on cd2-6 but had no positive opk's and then no af cd32 now but was told if I definitely didn't ovulate af wouldn't arrive. I've been advised to wait until I'm a week late, then do a pregnancy test if negative restart clomid at 100mg.  did you ovulate on your first cycle?

  • Options

I don't know as I'm not having any monitoring so I'm assuming not if I've got to CD35 with nothing :-(

Have you been told to start next round without AF then or wait it out? I'm trying to wait it out

  • Options

Oh no that's rubbish! I had bloods on CD21 after 1st cycle but that's it. I'm just guessing I didn't ovulate 2nd time round as had no positive opk's and no AF. Yeah I have been told to restart without AF as I don't have any normally have them so could be waiting a while.

maybe contact your Dr and ask their advice

My GP aren't very clued up on fertility issues, even PCOS and I'm not due back at the hospital till end of May so Im bit stuck,  I'll just have to either wait it out and restart without AF. Were you surprised to get AF when you don't normally?  Wonder why you didn't O second round? I find it all quite confusing tbh and Google makes me worse but I can't keep off it

Yeah my GP is the same luckily I work with the consultant that I was seeing before I was referred, so I called his secutary and he called me back to advise me what to do. So my consultant said that the reason I don't have periods is because I don't ovulate. And if you ovulate then you will get a period after if your not pregnant, so I was expecting it as soon as I knew I ovulated. It's all so confusing I don't understand a lot of it! No idea why it worked first time and not second my consultant didn't seem to know either! Nothing seems to be straight forward with me! He always says to me none of my results make any sense! That's why we have been referred to a specialist.

If I were you If nothing has happened in a couple of weeks and you get BFN I would start second cycle. It seems really wrong that they have given you clomid with no support! It's not fair on you.

Yeah it is annoying  I do feel a bit let down but I was so grateful to get clomid I didn't question anything really I was so excited to get started.  What CD are you going to start second round? I've been given six months of 50mg but I'm starting to think it's a bit pointless if I'm not going to ovulate each time at 50mg. Bet you're excited to start second round, I can't wait

You can only have a maximum of 12 cycles of clomid because long term use can cause cancer (that's what my consultant told me, don't know if they all say different things.) so if 50mg doesn't work for you I wouldn't waste additional cycles on it.

If you have been referred to the hospital by your GP you must be under a consultant.  Do you know the consultants name? Or maybe it's on a letter or something. If I were you I would call the hospitals switchboard and ask to be put through to your consultants secutary, if you know his name. If you explain that you had been prescribed clomid and your first cycle hasn't worked and you would like some advice on doubling dose and when to restart. Whoever prescribed it has an obligation to tell you how to use it and so on.

Its third round for me now, was so deflated last month when it didn't work just praying that this is my lucky cycle and I get my BFP or at least ovulate this time. I plan to restart it Monday or Tuesday so would be CD 36-37

Yeah I know his name etc thank you I think I'm going to try and chill over the weekend and see if I come on and if not call on Monday.  I really don't want to be wasting six months but I'm worried about taking clomid then getting AF arrive. How many rounds have you been given to try? Have they said how long a wait you have for fertility specialist? My consultant is gynaecology.  Sorry I meant third round in my last message,  will you be monitored or are you gonna do Opks?  I might get some opk for next time.  I ran out this round but got faint positives which I know don't count but I've never had them even before. Thanks for reading and replying it really helps to get it out

Yeah that's a good idea! I hope it all works out for you and maybe they will monitor you after you speak to them. I have just been prescribed another 3 cycles and hopefully my appointment will come through in the meantime. Didn't say how long I will have to wait apart from there's a long waiting list. Just gonna do opk's again and hope for the best. It makes so much difference talking to somebody in the same boat! People don't understand what a rollercoaster it is, and I get so frustrated with people when they say you just need to relax it won't happen if your stressed!

    Hey Georgia,

I, like you, ovulated first round of Clomid but had a bfn and AF came CD 29. I have just finished round 2 and am on CD 5.

I sometimes ovulate on my own but my progesterone is a tiny bit low (it was 30 on CD 21 without Clomid and my dr likes to see it at 35 or above. Then with Clomid it got to 40 with my day 21 check which I had done in my first cycle) therefore I’m sticking to the 50mg.

we have been trying for 2 years but for a year before that I was off birth control so technically 3 years. Never ever had a positive. Tube check & sperm analysis all ok.

Can I ask what your period oh Clomid was like as mine was awful!

    Welcome GeorgiaM!

ive been told you can only be on it for 6 months not 12!

im on cycle 1 still. Cd26 for me. i Just have a feeling itll be a bfn this cycle but bloods showed I did ovulate so will be okay to restart And try again. Decided not to test early but wait until first day of missed period, going old school and doing it the proper way!

My period on clomid wasn't great but not as bad as when I had my hsg test! I was given some hormone tablet to induce a period as they have to do it on a certain cycle day, and it was horrendous I've never felt pain like it! Did you get any pain around ovulation? I had pain for a whole week before I got a positive opk, didnt feel like cramps but felt like my left ovary was huge and kept pressing on things. It was really uncomfortable if I had a full bladder but agony to empty it, as soon as I ovulated the pain disappeared.

MrsBeeL I think they must all say different things! Maybe it's really down to funding and not the risks? The waiting to test is the worst bit! I convinced myself I was pregnant even though deep down I knew I wasn't.

I'm happy this morning as I had my appointment with the specialist through for 4th April. I feel like I have something to focus on now, and there's still hope if clomid doesn't work.
