Hey I'm with alba on either you have a good or poor sleeper.  I'm in the poor sleeper camp and have been since birth (Elliotts not mine)!.

When you are doing everything you possibly can and trying every trick in the book (or Internet) and nothing works,  you start to question your parenting ability.  Add lack of sleep for us into the mix and it certainly feels like you're losing the plot and makes you snappy, short tempered and miserable. 😞

I got myself tied up in all sorts of knots due to sleep deprivation and ended up with anxiety and some ocd surrounding the whole night time thing. Looking back I was slowly turning into a crazy woman and I wasn't enjoying being mum like I should. My poor family tried to tell me I had a problem but I couldn't see it until I spent the morning crying for no reason one day. I carted myself off to my gp and I ended up on medication. I'm not suggesting that it's the issue /answer for everyone btw,  but just wanted to say I know perhaps how you may be feeling and to say you're certainly not alone.

Although Elliott still wakes at night for a feed and naps and bed time are often a battle,  I am more chilled out about it. I'm also sleeping where I would usually lie awake inbetween Elliott waking with a whirring mind waiting for him to wake again. I stick to pretty much the same pattern at bedtime and have done since the start. Remembering my mum's words that Elliott will soon get the message. (not sure she anticipated it taking so long) I also had a nursery nurse from the health visiting team support me for sleep and knowing she'd be checking on us now and then helped. She said I could call her for support any time.

It's all likely to go out the window tonight as we're putting him in his room for the first time at night!! Dreading this.

On a light hearted note I read a great article about FOMO babies (frightened of missing out)  which helped me see things from a baby's perspective.

Don't think there is a magic answer we just got to hang in there.

    Xxx

Ps we have no teeth/not crawling yet.

Hi mummies I'm new to this thought might be good to get some advice and maybe even give some if I can. My 8 month old is getting up at night still for a bottle I give him 3 spoon feeds a day and always make sure give him supper as close to his bedtime as I can but last night it was 3am normally it's 5! I've a 21 month old to so it's tough going lol

    Xx

Baby dreamer, we are so glad to have an update from you. Looks like Lorelei is doing wonderfully.

Lovely to see those cracking pics of Elliott, sunny5

And if it is any consolation at all, my second child was the worst sleeper ever, until she hit 2 years old. There's god time and bad, but right now, we're in the good phase, so hang in there on the sleep front!

Welcome to xnatasha86x! That's a tough one... how much milk is he taking during the night?

Also, we've started a new thread today about what's a great gift to give to a new mum? Did you guys get anything good? If so, won't you come and tell us on this new thread here please?

    Hello everyone,

We just wanted to stop by and let you know about two threads we’re talking about today.

The first is a competition we are running with Dulux. If you have a child who can draw, and fancy trying to nab £500 B&Q vouchers, just have your child draw a picky of their dream bedroom and ask them to tell you about it. Please do read the opening post about how to enter.

The second thread is about Christmas! Yup, some people are already doing their Xmas shopping… is this insane, or do you think it’s better to start to early! That thread is over here!

    Thank you!

Today we are talking about swaddling your baby - did you swaddle or not? Please do come and let us know on this new thread over here!

Just wanted to share with you all a picture of Neve and Isaac at 8 months and how much they look alike! I can't believe it's only a few short months now till all our babies will be 1, where has that time gone.

I've been back at work for 2.5weeks now, I have a new job at my local council and just doing 2.5days, so Wednesday and Friday all day and half day Thursday. I miss Neve and Isaac loads while I'm at work but I love the adult interaction.

Hows is everyone else doing? Anyone else back at work, if so how you finding it? xx

They are so alike Nevesmummy! Work can be great to get back into can't it? That sounds like a great balance of work/being at home too.

Hello everyone else too, how are you all doing?

We wondered, when you named your baby, did any of your friends and family reveal they didn't like the name? If so, won't you tell us about it on this NEW thread? Thank you!

Hey supersquish - rocking the rubber gloves!!! Your boys are so cute and look like they are doing fab :)

we are just starting preparations for Tallulahs first birthday, although it's not til November so I don't like to think about it too much - where has the time gone??

she's currently teething and we have four breaking through at once so then she will have 6... with every tooth I feel like I'm losing my gummy little baby more and more :( she's crawling like crazy, walking around furniture and pulling herself up at every opportunity... Loving this stage, not looking forward to the walking though and really honestly don't believe there is any rush!! They don't need us for long so I'm making the most out of it all :)

ill ll try to post some updated pics :) best wishes to you all x

It's flown by hadn't it! Waiting to go see docs about eliotts head. He's got a large noggin haha but on a serious note his head is measure 2 centiles above his growth chat so health visitor wants a second measurement don't by doctor. If so he will have to have a ct scan on his head.... But josh had a big head so I'm not too worried! Just waiting for him to get on the move now, he's crawling backwards and rolling all over, anyway but forward lol

Beautiful Pictures of your bubbas 😘

Isaac had his check up at hospital on Wednesday fingers crossed were hoping he's already grown out of his Milk intolerance, and the Dr said he's fine to have eggs. She's not even sure if he has a salicylate allergy as the foods with high levels he can tolerate but the ones with low levels he can't so we just have to keep an eye on things.

Isaac has 3 teeth breaking through at the minute, and he is as grouchy as anything!! He still won't sleep through the night but he is going down at 7.30 then he wakes at 12, then between 5.30 & 6.30 so I should be grateful really lol!!

Isaac is crawling, pulls himself up at the furniture and we have had a couple of instances where he stands up holding onto nothing then he falls over after a few seconds so we thi he's trying to catch up with his sister lol!!

Heres my super happy man after his first sandy beach trip 😊 We went to Sand Banks in Poole and Isaac loved everything about it, especially getting down to the sea 😊 Picture of my princess too 😘

We had Neve's eyes tested today too and she needs glasses as her eye muscles aren't working as they should 😔 So 3months of glasses and if no better in 3 months it's off to see an eye specialist at the hospital. image image image

Hiya, our schedule is pretty similar only I only do three feeds a day rather than four and only one snack a day as I thought they werent meant to have more than that at this age - so bloody hard!!! Also Tallulah goes to bed at 7.30 with bedtime routine starting at 7 (my husband gets in at 6.30 so if we did it any earlier he wouldn't get to see her. She generally (when not teething etc) then goes from 7.30-6.30/7 :)

does anyone have any good snack ideas while we are on the subject? X

Ladies lovely to hear from you all!

Everyone's baby looks abslaulty beautifull isn't this an amazing stage? As Hugo was a premie I think he maybe one a bit sooner than all your lovely bubbas however I don't even want to talk about it as I am so sad. Although booking cake smash got me exited. imageimageimage

Don't know if Danielle can help or any other mums but as the big 1 approaches I'm starting to dwell alot on hugos birth and time in scbu/hdu as happy as I am I feel like maybe I buried feelings about the trauma that I wasn't aware of an they are just coming out now.

On a happier note hugos year review is booked and I received the paperwork to fill in before has anyone else seen this? Some of the expectations are ludicrous!!!

We still sleep 7-7.30 and I have to say I stuck to a routine much like the one someone posted. Eating like a king!!! Very nearly walking 6 teeth and back ones on the way boo! We can say mum nan dad bubba and love you Here are a few pics lovely to hear from you all x

Ladies, had a bit of a to do with my local health clinic since I last posted wonder if you can help me.

Hugo-Blaze eats 3 solid and pretty hefty meals a day if you ask me and he has between 3 and 4 bottles a day I was asked to get him weighed before his 1 year review to get a clear picture of progression and even to my amazement he only weighs 18lb.4 I thought this was fine to be honest but there saying hes underweight and that I should drop the bottles and replace with food eventually taking me to 2 bottles a day assuming he has one to go to bed with but he doesn't ever have a bottle in bed as he doesn't need it.

My question is how many bottles are your babies still having a day as I thought this ratio was normal but i am being made to think it isn't. Hugo is on the move and I mean mega he doesnt stop so I can only assume his food has been counteracted by his movements?

    Hi Alba,

Isaac had dietician last week for his allergies and intolerances. She told me babies of this age (9-10) months should be having 3 bottles, we're finding this hard as Isaac was still having 5 plus 3 meals but we've managed to get him down to 4 bottles so we're making progress.

Tuturose, regarding snacks, Isaac will have a mini rusk or some organic baby snacks like carrot sticks or something like that. Even 1/2 a hard boiled egg which he loves. Again dietician told me that at this age they should have 3 meals and 2 snacks throughout the day. Some days Isaac will eat quite happily and sometimes I feel like I'm forcing him to eat, but I'm a firm believer that they won't let themselves starve and they will eat if they are hungry. Neve is the same some days she won't stop eating other days it's a uphill battle!!

What does everyone have planned for 1st birthdays? Can't believe how quick they have come round xx
