How old is Naomi now Bunny? Lyra isn't quite 3 months so a bit of time (hopefully!) before the 4 month sleep regression. She had a bad night last night though - she's got quite good at sleeping for 7 or 8 hours, but last night she was feeding from 10pm to 4am. Every time she came off the boob she would start to cry. It was like having a newborn again! Then she woke at half 8 absolutely ravenous. Must be a growth spurt or something.

Thanks for the mirror tip - I told a girl  my NCT class and she said it has transformed tummy time!

The hospital told me 18 months given I had a caesarean but my haemophilia centre said 12 was fine. So I'm planning to start in Jan on the basis it would be at least a few weeks even if it happened straight away again.

Yep I'm still writing my book (or at least planning to carry on!). I haven't done anything since Christmas but want to start again now we're more settled with Lyra.

I bet you will miss Naomi a lot but at least you know she's with your husband. And you get to do both things that you love doing! I always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to stop working (and possible start writing a book) when I had a baby but I was never that passionate about my job (I worked in finance - a far cry from writing!). I guess having issues with my employer the year before last made up my mind for me as I ended up leaving even before I got pregnant.

Lovely photo daisylouise! Lyla looks so sweet and innocent. Well done her on the rolling. Lyra looks like she's gearing up for it during tummmy time but I don't think it'll be possible until her harness is off. My new favourite thing is having "conversations" with her where she tries to copy us, but she seems much happier to do this some days than others.

She has also learnt to grip a teething toy and hold it in her mouth. I'm not sure she is teething as it would be on the early side but she keeps biting down with the right side of her mouth and wincing. Teething usually happens at the front first but anything is possible I guess!

Enjoy your night away! We haven't had a baby-free night yet, mainly as both of our parents live quite far away. But we're planning to next time my parents come to stay for longer than just a weekend.

Sorry for the double set of long messages, but is there anyone else who isn't really going to baby groups? I figure at this stage we can do everything you would (at a sensory class, say) at home. We get out and about every day, e.g. for walks or to national trust places. It's not like we don't see people - I meet up with the NCT girls every week or so and a few other friends with slightly older babies too. Plus OH is still home. So I haven't really found it necessary. I'm not the biggest fan of structure anyway so I hate knowing that I always have a set activity on a set day. Plus i don't like to socialise too often 😂. Just wanted to see what others thought as it sometimes seems the whole world is going to them except me.

Hi girls,All going well with us. Busy with my three year old and baby!  Alex is doing great. He was laughing this evening which was very cute! His Dad smiled at him and this big chuckle came out. I am going to Mum and baby yoga sugar. Its a bit of exercise for me and you involve baby with   Holding him doing stretches and singing songs . I am hoping to be off work until January . Have to sort it out with work still

I'm not going to any groups yet sugar. I have a few friends with babies that I see every so often.

I have two days a week with my mum

and then the other days I'm also often out on walks etc.

I also don't do too well with set things on set days!

I might have a look at what is near me but not convinced theyre the right thing for me xxx

Naomi has just turned four months old now, I can't believe it! Not sure if we will see a sleep regression- she has never slept for longer than theee hours at a time consistently anyway. Than goodness she is still in a co-sleeper! 7-8 hours sounds great sugar, hope Lyra is back to that consistently for you soon :-) and I can understand why the book hasn't been progressing- I don't know where all my time is swallowed up to!

glad the mirror tip for tummy time helped :-)

We haven't been going to lots of classes. I meet up with my NCT ladies about once a week and we were going to newborn flotation (baby swimming) classes but she has outgrown that class now, we might just take her to our local warm baby pool now we are a bit more confident with her in the water. We are starting to do a lot more sensory play at home with her now, and I find a day can easily disappear with walking the dog, having some play, feeding our rabbits some dandelions and some naps in between!

We are are lucky to have lots of good places to walk near us- and Naomi sleeps very well in her sling, but not great out of the house otherwise, so walks definitely help!

On the subject of wraps/carriers; has anyone mastered the art of breastfeeding in a carrier? I have heard people talk about it and it sounds amazing and very useful!

Am glad Alex is doing well eglew, isn't it lovely the more and more they interact with us? :-) xx

    Hi everyone,

We were wondering, as you've all experienced labour quite recently (is it a distant memory already?) might you be able to help us out with this thread please?

We're asking, what were those really early, first signs of labour for you - the ones before contractions start. If you'd like to tell us, please could you come and post them on this new thread here. We'd really appreciate it!

Hello! Today we're asking you to come and show us your tattoos, so if you fancy snapping and sharing them on this new thread, we'd love to see them!

Hi everyone, how are you all doing? We've not heard from you in a while, and we do hope all is well?

We're also wondering if you have a moment, would you please come and tell us about your ultrasound scans - how many you've had and why? It's on a new thread just here. Thank you!

    How are you all doing?

Eglew, yoga sounds good. I'm okay with exercise at the moment as my husband is home but I might do something like that when he's back in work. I always liked yoga anyway.

I'm the same MillP - I don't think groups are my thing really. I'll probably end up going to a few when we move though just as a way of meeting people. Since I'll be so far from all the people I met at NCT!

Walking is our thing too Bunny! Our flat overlooks a pretty rural canal and we have lots of nice countryside and market towns. I can't help with breastfeeding in a sling / carrier sorry. We have one but haven't been able to use it because of Lyra's hip harness.

I don't think I said before but last week the hip clinic said Lyra's hip looks good and they were umming and ahhing over whether to take the harness off. But in the end they decided another fortnight just to be conservative. They did say we could be really flexible this week and take it off whenever we want. So we're taking her swimming today for the first time. Wish us luck!

Turns out teething isn't much fun (what a surprise!). Lyra has been so unsettled the past few nights - crying in pain, red cheeks, chewing like crazy. I feel so sorry for her. We're at my parents' house this week and were supposed to go for our first baby free evening out tonight. I bought bags and bags of expressed milk with me but she just won't drink from a bottle since she started teething. She just tries to chew it on the right hand side and then spits it out (looking so disgusted all the while!). So one poor baby and no evening out for us!

In other news, I finally did a bit of work on my book! First time since giving birth...

Hooe you're all doing well and that it isn't as rainy wherever you are as it is here.

I also meant to ask - has anybody else who is exclusively breastfeeding had their period yet? I think it's rare to get it this early but I've already had two, at 6 weeks and 13 weeks. I figure it's because Lyra goes quite long at night without a feed.

And to anyone who has had a post-pregnancy period - did you find it any different to your usual periods? My first was long but light and pretty pain-free but the second was horrendous. So, so heavy and painful. Im "supposed" to have heavy periods anyway because of the haemophilia but I've been on the pill since I was 16 so haven't had a natural one in so long. Hope they're not all like this!

Hi sugar great news that lyra's hips are nearly ready to be out of the frame!

Im obviously not breastfeeding so have had a period. Got my first one when J was 11 weeks (think it was slightly delayed by my month of exclusive bf). I went back on the pill at the same time. However I ended up stopping the pill after 3 weeks as I was having constant cramps and still heavily bleeding and was having horrendous mood swings! Something that previously the pill stopped! I eventually stopped bleeding after 5 weeks! hoping the next one will be ok, I now have no intention of going back on the pill anytime soon!

Our bodies go through so much having these babies so I guess it's normal for things to be a bit strange for a while.

I hope your next one is a lot better for you!

Hope everyone else is doing alright!

Ive just been and paid the deposit on Jenson's nursery place for next year! feel a bit sad about it and it'll soon be here :-( but im happy I've managed to get him into the nursery I wanted :-)

Sorry sugar, meant to say. I hope swimming goes well and lyra loves it!

Jenson loves the water, he's always so chilled out in it! My dad heated their pool to 34 for him this weekend! It was like a bath 😂

Heres my monkey in the pool and lazing on his aunties water hammock!

    Hi everyone,
A couple of threads we wanted to tell you about today.

The first is about your babies name: who picked it and did you and your partner agree on it? That thread is here.

The second thread is if you have a child aged 6-9 years old, we're looking for testers to try out some sunglasses. You can sign up here if you fancy!

And finally, we're asking, did you have a 3D or 4D scan while you were pregnant? If so, please do come and tell us about that here

Hello! I've just come across this thread.

My little 34 weeker was born 19-01-17, his due date was 27-2-17 but due to sevre pre-e i have an emergency c-section. He was in NICU three weeks learning how to feed and breathing difficulties at birth.

Welcome Millie96! Congratulations on your baby - is he home with you now and how is he doing?

  • Options

Yes he's home! He came home after 3 weeks and hes doing great! Few nasty moments here and there with his breathing and we figured out he has a cows milk allergy so we have a new hypoallergenic formula which has really helped :)

as we all have 4 month olds I was curious about sleeping patterns? My LO consistently sleeps 9/10 hours at night without a feed and sometimes he'll have an hour of broken sleep through to day or 5 straight hours and then still go 9/10 through the night... is that "normal"? Does he just like sleep? 😂

Hi Millie!! (I'm also a Millie ;-)!) lovely to have you join us!

What a little cutie!! Glad he got home reasonably quickly and is doing well :-) what is he called?

My little boy was born two days early on 17th Jan but also had a trip to NICU as had breathing difficulties too...he was home after just three days though :-)

jenson is a sleep lover and sounds very similar to your little chap! I just say he's like his daddy :-)

Here's my little Jenson when born and now :-)

Aw bless him. How's he doing? :)

ah that's good reassurance. I still get moments of panic, even though I know he's fine! He must just love his sleep like me hahaha

    His names Freddie Ray :)
