Baby will be in with us for the first six months or so but I wanted baby's room all sorted so I don't need to worry about it later on. His clothes will also be in there and his changing table too so we will be in there a lot from when he's born.

I'm finding pregnancy quite mentally draining too! I've been really lucky with the physical symptoms but the mood swings are crazy (my poor husband!!)

We bought the pram and car seat last week so that's all sorted but I've had to print myself off a list of 'essentials' so that I hopefully don't forget to buy something crucial. So much to remember!

Hi all, hope all is ok?

I was wondering if anyone knows what happens when waters break early. It happened to a friend of mine yesterday. She is due in october so only 27 weeks. I would like to know so that I can prepare to help her in any way. Will she be allowed home from hospital if she doesnt go into labour? Sorry long shot but im a newbie to all of this.

Sky123 if her waters have definitely gone then it will only be a matter of time before baby is here. They may give drugs to keep it in for a few more days but once waters are gone baby and also mother are at high risk of infection which can obviously cause problems for both. I’m a SCBU nurse Xx

Hi Catj. Thank you for your reply. I had hoped that wouldnt be the case. Thats not the best news. they are keeping her in hospital obviously. just keep praying they will both be okay 😞

Hi DanielleMFM, thanks for the welcome. Yes, after the holidays I'll return to work for as long as possible. Hoping to make it all the way to October half term but we'll see!!!

I will have to make the most of the summer holidays to get things ready for the baby. Sometimes it feels like the longest wait ever and other times it feels like it's all happening too soon!!!

Hope everyone has a good day.

    Hi everyone,

i would really like some advice if anyone has had any experience with this or knows anything about it.

Yesterday I found out I’m having a healthy baby girl which I am really grateful for and very happy however I also found out that I have a low lying placenta and major placenta praevia.

I am a bit gutted as I was hoping to go to the birthing Center and have a natural birth as this is my first baby but the two midwifes? Or nurses? That I spoke to said that although placenta preavia was common and for most women as you get bigger the placenta moves out of the way, they seemed to think that this would not be a likely case with me as my placenta is completely covering cervix and so a caesarean would be my only option. She said to me you can have hope that it moves but I don’t think they thought it would at all. I got given a leaflet to read through which is not the most helpful as it doesn’t say much about major placenta praevia and I have another scan at 32 weeks to confirm if I still have major placenta praevia and I was wondering if anyone had any experience of major placenta praevia moving out of the way or if I should just accept that I will need a caesarean and to forget about my calm natural birth plans. Any advice would be helpful as they did really scare me by saying even a small amount of bleeding, I must come into the hospital urgently and in the leaflet it said my life and the baby’s life could be at risk with any sort of bleeding. I’m also worried that with this if I have it at 32 weeks I will have to have a caesarean and I am worried they will want to do it as soon as possible with the risk factors and the baby may not be developed and will have to go to a specialist hospital without me as it also says this in the leaflet.

    thank you 🙏

GH29 - husbands are enjoying the moods so much, I can imagine.. I generally try not to be that bad to him, but sometimes I just flip 😃 but it is very funny as I can be filing for divorce in one minute and then next one be just super loving wife 😃

Sky123 - what Catj21 said is true, but I am not sure about the matter of days, as I know about cases when waters broke at 32 weeks and then the baby was delivered at term.. but the high risk of infection should mean that she should be in the hospital still

Jadec7 - I am sorry to hear about your worries 😕 It is hard with all the things that can go wrong during pregnancy.. I heard about people having major placenta praevia and it moving away at later stages of pregnancy, but it is very individual, also the timing of the caesarian section is very individual, but it should not be done before 36 weeks unless your baby is not developing well in the womb. Just take a deep breath and try to focus on the health of you and your little one for now. Important thing is that you want the best option for your baby and you, yes, you might not be able to get natural birth in birthing centre, but caesarian section will not make you less better mum. Even when you don’t have problems as placenta praevia the calm natural plans could go out of the window with the reality. Since the moment we conceived our lives are changing not depending on us but our little ones. No matter what type of birth you will have, you will be a great mom :)

Anybody else having trouble finding a name for their baby?

I'm sick of looking for names... we have a name we like, but nothing we both love.

  • Options

Hi Cristina, no names over here yet either. There only a few names I like but would prefer something more unique but classy. Its so tricky. According to my partner we have ages left but its starting to concern me 🙈

Hi everyone, we wanted to check in and see how you're all doing? Any one made progress on the baby names?

  • Options

Thanks, Sky123. We'll probably have a list of names and wait to see the baby and "try" them on.

Weve had a name for a while now, i Like calling baby by his name 😊

feel like time is starting to drag now - though I can’t believe I am at 25 weeks, it still seems to be taking forever! Just me?

ChristinaNov18, we have a woman who just gave birth in our July 18 babies thread, and it took her and her husband a week and a few days to name their son!

But I was like you on, and had to try the names on first baby - went with a name that wasn't even on the list!

We have ours too and finding it difficult to keep it a secret! I just couldn't deal with somebody saying they didn't like it as we are really happy with our choice.

I feel like it's gone quite quick so far but I think the last trimester is going to drag on. We've booked on to antenatal classes in October and I'm really impatient to get started!

Hi Katiematey12, welcome to the birth club! How's your pregnancy been so far?
Catj21, which pram did you go for?

    Hey Danielle,

glad to be in the chat :) first timer here so thought it would be good to hear other stories etc! I’ve had a very easy pregnancy so far with everything only getting hard now short of breathe etc.. I suffer from a very back back before the pregancy and had to get out of work for 3 weeks so trying to get it easy atm 🙈 but now thinking my ways of birth might have to change due to my back pain 🙄 how’s all you girls doing? X

Hi everyone, we've not heard from you guys in a while, so we wanted to see how you're all doing as the third trimester approaches. Do let us know how it's all going, we'd love to hear from you.
