    Hi Gospel

I had my laparoscopy a week ago and had endometriosis treated but luckily my tubes are clear (which I did sort of know as I have already been pregnant). I have an appointment at the end of April to discuss fertility options but as long as I get a normal period at the end of this month I can try myself for a couple of months.

Please to hear all your tests so far have come back clear. Good luck with your clinic appointment.

Ah that's good that you've both got the ball rolling. It could be a long emotional rollercoaster for us all but at least we've got started with it.

I'm counting down the hours until Thurs! Lol. Although I really dont know what to expect from the appointment.

I'm on CD34 today! AF taking its time as always and messing with my head. I try to convince myself one day that these long cycles have happened for the last 18 months and af will be just around the corner. Then another day I'll try to convince myself that it could of happened as I'm not out until she arrived. Mentally exhausting! Think I'm going mad! 😂

Gospel, Feel for you having such long cycles. Just think one day it won't show at all.

Good luck on Thursday and please update how it goes

Back to the drawing board as well. I had an appt with a midwife group (I had been wanting to switch groups for a while), she didn’t seem to think there was any issue with my long cycles (32-38 days) or my short, light periods (3 days primarily brown). But then of course my period after I saw her was 2 days with 2 days of light spotting before & after. She suggested we keep at it for a couple more cycles & then go back to see her again if nothing has happened by then. We have had great timing & I know I must be ovulating with positive opk & temp spikes after, but with my super light periods I worry that my lining isn’t getting thick enough, but we will see.

I am not alone in feeling overwhelmed and annoyed by the constant barrage of pregnancy & baby posts on social media, at work & on TV...everywhere i am or look it seems, my husband has also voiced his irritation at the constant reminders...at least now I don’t feel as crazy since I’m not the only one!

    Good luck to you all!!

    Hi girls.

Had our appointment today. And as if just to make a point, AF arrived this morning! Happy Valentine's to me! 😂

Anyway, the appointment was really positive and the consultant was so lovely and really reassuring. She went through all of our test results which as we already knew, were normal. Then went through our medical history which got us discussing the fact that I think having the ruptured appendix a couple of years ago has damaged my tubes. She agreed.

She then suggested I go for a blood test which is quite new, called an 'anti mullerian hormone' test which will give a good idea of how many eggs I have left, and if this is normal for my age..this is private tho and so we will have to pay for it, but worth doing to make sure it's all ok. So booked in to have that done tomorrow.

I've then got a pelvic scan next week which will look for any damage/blocked tubes etc. Then we will go from there to see if I need a hycosy to flush out the tubes, a laparoscopy to do further investigations/unblock tubes, or if there is nothing they can do because of extensive damage, then it will be ivf (which we'll obv have to pay for).

The other scenario is that everything looks completely normal then I'm not sure what would happen.... probably hormone treatment to regulate my cycles. Or they could find something else like endometriosis or polycystic ovaries etc.

Just so glad that she agreed about my worries with the appendix, and that the scan is quite quick, not waiting months for it, which I was expecting.

So big glass of the bubbly stuff tonight and a rare steak (whilst I still can!) to celebrate valentines. And, well, AF can just F off! 😂😂😂

    Baby dust to all xxx

    Hi guys,

i’m on month 10 of ttc. I’m wondering if I can join you all on this thread?

  • Options

Glad your appointment went well Gospel and things seem to be moving quickly. Welcome to the thread Sunshineandsmiles.

Found out my Sister in Law is pregnant yesterday. I have had a number of family members become pregnant in my over 2 year journey but that one hit me badly.

just trying to keep thinking positive that's all I can do.

Welcome Sunshineandsmiles! How are things going for you?

Gospel22, sorry to hear AF surprised you, but glad you are making good progress with testing.

Russellg, I totally understand the frustration! I wish I had a good suggestion for making it easier, but I struggle with that myself. I often end up blocking their posts on social media so I don’t have to see it over & over. I have put a lot more time & effort into various athletic pursuits to distract me & I figure it won’t hurt to get in better shape (I don’t exercise so much as to stop ovulation etc).

Thanks DSW I totally agree that distraction with other things not pregnancy related really helps. Lots of positive thinking as well

Of course sunshineandsmiles! We're all in a similar situation here, so it's good to come and have a chat about stuff.

Oh Russellg so sorry to hear this. It's a horrible feeling. And with it being close family, you have to be happy for them too which is hard going.

Dsw, going back to your earlier post, I have really light 3-4 day periods too. I mentioned it today at the appointment. The consultant didn't seem worried by it at all.

    Xx

Thanks Gospel. My periods are 8-10 days and can be very heavy which some months make me faint or be sick. I am hoping the laparoscopy I have done will ease some of that but not expecting it to happen straight away.

Hoping to get a period this month so I can get my cycles back on track before I see the specialist again at the end of April

    Gospel22,

I was logging on to message you to see how your appointment went well. The procedure to look into your pelvis and possibly the tubes, if it is the ultrasound with the saline, I had the same and I had bad cramps for a couple days following that. Just so you know.

    Russellg,

Welcome to this board., these girls have helped me with my sanity and not feeling so alone during this whole ordeal. ! You will find good support here. I understand with family members and their announcements and tons of pictures can be very sad to look at.

Hi ladies, I came off my pill after 8 days as we decided to try for our second baby. I had a withdrawal bleed on the 19th November and then my period arrived on the 26th December. (38 days) No period in January but it arrived on the 7th February (44days).  Anyone know why my cycles so long now or is it because I stopped the pill without finishing the whole pack. Has anyone else experexperienced this before.

  • Options

Hi Annie! Hope your ok. Where are you upto with everything?

Hi mariebq, it will be difficult to say really, could be because your body is just regulating itself after coming off the pill, or you could be someone who has longer cycles. The only way to know is to keep tracking them and hopefully you will see a pattern emerging and they will settle down a bit (that's if you don't get your bfp in the mean time!)

Hi gospel22, thanks for your reply. My periods are normally 28 days, that's how it was before I got pregnant with my first baby.(completed a pill pack then started trying for baba) I'm thinking because I stopped my pill after 8 days that it's just messed up my system. Hopefully all will return to normal soon xx

Sorry for the sad post! I'm really feeling dishearted and sad at the moment i think its never going to happen!!

Hi 1stbaba1, I totally know how your feeling. And thats the good thing about this forum....were all in the same boat. It's great that you've got the ball rolling with a fertility appointment. It seemed so far away for us too a couple of months ago but it gave me something to focus on and it came round so quickly.

We have told a few people in the family now just because it's so heartbreaking to be asked all the time "when are you having another one" and tbh it's a big relief. They now know whats going on, have obv stopped asking, and it has made us more relaxed as were not having to make up things to say to them!

How many chemicals do u think you've had so far?

    Hi 1stbaba1,

I know it is hard to put a brave face on things. Do any of your family know you are trying? To be honest my close family know about me trying and my miscarriages and I feel like that has been a great support for me.

We all have to keep thinking positive even though it is such a struggle sometimes. I am on the last few days of my period since my laparoscopy and then I can try again until I see the specialist in the 29th April to discuss fertility options.

We are all here to support each other so feel free to rant if it makes you feel better.

Russellg how was the laparoscopy for u? Did they put u to sleep for it? And much pain/scarring afterwards? I'm thinking that's the way I'll be going after the scan on Tues xx

  • Options

    Hi Gospel,

It went well for me as they treated some spots of endometriosis on both sides by my abdomen wall and checked all other areas so I know that everything else is clear.

They do put you to sleep it is only day surgery so you are generally in and out the same day. The first couple of days afterwards were sore but after a week was on the way to recovery

I have small scars near my belly button and then a small one further down but nothing to much

I would recommend it as it gives the specialist a clearer view of anything causing issues that are not clear on a scan.

    hope this helps
