@Chloe87 it's very exhausting isnt it! Occasionally my husband will take her for a few hours around 2pm and I get to nap for an hour or so.
Yes sometimes I kiss my baby on the head and she feels sweaty!! Been bathing her every other day not sure if it helps or not!!

@Mama2be9 yes I couldn't imagine have a c section and recovery must be a pain in the butt, I am a active person so that would bother me! Hopefully you're healing nicely though and will be able to be more mobile soon!!

@MrsP13 glad you had a good nights rest that's amazing!! I'm sure she will get used to all the noise during the daytime! My mum said she was able to Hoover under our bassinets while we were asleep and we wouldnt even stir Haha!!

Yes we have been sticky and sweaty over here also!! Our skin to skin time has been like we have honey in between us!! 🤪

The day before yesterday was our toughest day so far. Sweet Elowynn cries on and off but pretty solidly from 4p-10p! Ugh 🤦🏼‍♀️ We tried everything!! It was so so hard!! Poor thing! Poor us! I think we are dealing with the witching hour and an overtired/overstimulated baby. If she doesn’t go down to sleep after about 2-3 hours, she gets really fussy and it’s harder to soothe her. Today had been a much better day and so was yesterday. We had some fussy time in the evening but eventually she fell asleep, which it seems like she really wanted bc she kept almost falling asleep and then rousing awake again to cry...

She just finished a 2.5 hr nap and has woken up for a boob snack, a burp and a change. My husband will take her on an evening walk in the woods and then we will soon get her bath ready and try and get her to sleep again before the witching hour creeps in again!! Lol! 😂

Hope everyone else is making it through today!! 🙏

The witching hour is so tough isn't it tonight I have in and got the dummy out my sister bought ( I refused to buy any)
So at 7pm the crying started so I got her bathed and into our room where it's darker fed her gave her her dummy she slept for an hour or so
Woke up for her next feed and gave her a bottle of formula ( mum said to try this at bed time) this was around 9.30 pm

There deffo been alot less fussing and crying I can't say she's gone to bed any earlier she's just dozing on my knees now but deffo a less
Stressful evening let's hope it's gets more relaxed now she's got the dummy for bedtime just need to master getting her into the basket now
With out her waking that's the hardest part you think yes she's in get all settled in bed then they wake them selves up lol I have been reading a few bedtime routines with using a dummy at night and how it helps them to socialise the dummy with bedtime ....... Sono think from now on were going to do bath boob dummy from 7 8 pm then a bottle of formula around 10 ish. Not how I had planned to do it but this can't carry on how it has been im expressing so once I have a good stash I'll be doing the odd bottle here and there in the day to ease the load

Yes the witching hour is tough! My husband just came back from their walk in the woods and she’s asleep!! Yay!! We may do the bath later tonight if needed. But so far today has been a less fussy day! What a difference when things work and she feels better.

I ordered some new pacifiers bc the one my husband got she wouldn’t take. We will see if she will take these new ones. They have a flatter nipple shape and are made out of silicone. Mam is the brand. Anyone use them before? I want to use it as a last resort so she doesn’t get dependent on them.

The bedtime association with the dummy is a great idea! Hope it works. So the formula is something new you have introduced? What made you decide to use it? When did you start? Has she been sleeping better and less fussy? Hope it all works out and you have a lovely evening with your little precious one 🙏❤️

A few resources I’ve come across that may be helpful are Taking Cara Babies. You can follow her on Instagram and gain so much help. Just found her yesterday! She also has a course you can pay for but you can learn so much from her instagram page.

Also the Wonder Weeks app and book are so helpful. They describe the fussy periods that precede a major mental neurological leap in the 1st 20 months of your baby’s life. Knowing what’s coming and why gives a sense of understanding and control when you feel your at such a loss with soothing and settling your baby. I’ve just started reading the book and it’s very helpful already. 👌

Tonight is the first night on the formula and dummy it's 3.24 and she woke for her first feed of the evening. (On the boob)
My mum suggested trying on her a bottle of formula before bed becase it might keep her filled up for longer and she might sleep a bit better/ longer. Which so far on night one appears to have worked ...
She fell asleep with the dummy after the bottle but it fell out when I put her down. I heard her grizzle at 12 & 1 but when I went to get her she's already fallen back to sleep . It may be a huge coincidence that she had the bottle and slept that long I don't know. But I'll be trying it again tonight . She's just finished 25 mins on the boob fingers crossed she says alseeep through winding and nappy change but so far so good

Mam is a great brand I liked that there dummies were smaller and the sterilising boxes they come in are amazing. However I didn’t like that when I sterilise then in the Milton it gets in to the teet. So we switched to tommee tippee ones that don’t look like normal dummies. There fantastic. As she’s using tommee tippee bottles she’s taken to them amazingly.
We had a crazy day yesterday she slept for 3 hours each time from 3 pm onwards this was after she cluster fed from 12pm-3pm where she took around 5-6oz in that whole time. But she then became fussy at 5am as she hadn’t pooped. But that’s all out of her system this morning which is amazing.
Such a hit and sticky day ahead of us again today. But we’ve got our check up hearing test for her right ear this afternoon. Fingers crossed we get a clear result

@Chloe87 hope it all worked out the second night of formula!

@MrsP13 glad to hear Mam is a good brand. Will take note of the one you are using now in case I need to switch also. Hope there ear appointment went well!

I'm so so sad about this I'm going to miss her little eyes looking up at me while feeding and holding my boob im so sad right now

@Chloe87 oh no 😢!  So sorry to hear! Before you give up, can you get in touch with a lactation consultant/specialist?? They can help solve these common issues mamas have. Maybe you can just talk on the phone with someone and they could give you some help?! Don’t give up yet mama?!! If that’s what you feel is best, of course that is your decision. I just wanted to offer some encouragement and support since it seems you don’t want to let it go and enjoy it so much.

It yet I really don't I wouldn't even know where to start with a lactation consultant . .. I certainly couldn't afford to pay for one at the moment . I have had two successfull feeds today so better than nothing at all

@Chloe87 Maybe try the hospital where you delivered Olivia? They usually offer help and it could be free 🤷‍♀️ They can refer you to someone also I’m pretty sure. I’d start there and see where it takes you. Hopefully this is just a bump in the road and you’ll be able to get over it with some support. Wishing you luck and strength ❤️🙏❤️

She's been doing a little better today ! I'm at the hospital on Monday for a scan on her hips so I may ask while I'm there

@Chloe87 sorry to hear you're having a rough go!! Goodluck with the scan today!

@MrsP13 hope the hearing test went well! Sounds like you are getting more of a sleep routine which is great! My little one has been sleeping amazing the last 4 nights! She has been going down around 9 and sleeping till 1-2am! Or she will go down around 11 and sleep till 4ish!! So 4-5hr stretches which I've been so grateful for!!

Me on the other hand, I am having a rough time, I have developed some lumps/bumps on my butt cheeks and on the side of my hips, now have a few on my calfs, they are quite painful to touch/sit on, they feel like extremely bad bruises... some are small little lumps and some are a bit bigger.... I am going to a local clinic today to hopefully get some answers or an xray or something!!! I cant take it much longer honestly it's making me miserable.

@thinkingpositive1 I’m sorry that things have been rough with these lumps for you. I can imagine how hard it must be to sit or do anything when your in pain like that.

Hear test went well she had a perfect response in both ears. It’s clear it was mucus that was stuck in her ear after birth that caused the issues.

We’ve been discharged by the midwife today. Ella is now weighing a whooping 11lbs2oz at 4 weeks old. Little chunk haha.
She’s started to feed every 3-4 hours which is nice. I just wish her brother would behave. The Terrible twos have really cracked up a notch. We had our first public tantrum yesterday. Hubby did not cope well. I really hope they can both keep it together on Friday when we attend a family wedding. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    @MrsP13
Thanks, it has been a rough go but hopefully get some results soon, just waiting on an ultrasound appointment now..
Yay Ella! That's great her hearing is good and you guys are heading home. She is growing so quickly! Not sure what my little one weighs as our next dr visit isnt untill early September, I'm guessing around 10lbs! Ah sorry to hear your son is still being naughty! Like you said the terrible twos must be setting in, hopefully he's not like that for long.. or atleast you find some ways to cope/bribe him lol
