  • Batch cook food and freeze before  baby is born. This will save time and ensure you have food readily available.
  • Don’t compare yourself to others because when all is said and done; we’re all just winging it. 

    Trust you instincts - you can’t lose.

  • DO take up those offers from relatives or friends to babysit for a hour or so to give you a much needed nap or a little break from baby and get out of the house.  Maybe get out to the shops and treat yourself to something, or get your hair or nails done but try and do something for you, no matter how small. It is so good for your wellbeing to get a little break and have some me time again without baby.
  • Try to nap when your newborn sleeps, otherwise you'll be too tired.
  • Do what ever you think is best for you and baby.
    Don't get to many clothes. Baby grows really fast. 

  • Don't let others get you down if they tell you that you aren't doing something right. Their way of doing things isn't necessarily the best way and may not be right for you or your baby.
  • Try not to compare yourselves to others as it will drive you mad! Also go with your instincts and do what you think is best for you and your baby. If friends and family offer to help then please take it, you need to rest too. My number one tip is enjoy every moment as maternity leave goes too fast! Take lots of photos too... 😊
  • Don't stress out if things aren't going the way you thought they would. Every baby is different. A fed baby is a happy baby, no matter where their food comes from 
  • Enjoy it!! Although it may not always feel it at the time our little ones grow up so quickly.  Enjoy the baby years, dont compare yourself and put yourself under pressure.  Take each day as it comes the housework can wait till tomorrow!!
  • Try and be organised, try and get as much done in advance so you feel like you're ahead of the game.
  • Listen to all the advice offered then pick out the bits that you feel are best for you and your child/children.
  • ask for help from family relatives if u need so and make sure u take some time out for yourself drink lots of refreshing green tea 
  • Be realistic.  It is not unusual to be so tired from disturbed sleep that it can be hard to enjoy the very special time and it is easy to become irritable and have tiffs with your partner (if you have one).  Be as organised as you can, accept help.  Try not to stress about the little things.  Read tips on how to settle a crying baby and once you have checked for the obvious - hungry, nappy, hot, cold, uncomfortable clothes, colic, awkward position etc then try rocking, a drive, the washing machine, womb sounds etc.  Be aware that advice can run in cycles and use your own common sense too. Finally remember that each baby is unique and different so just because a friends baby sleeps through the night at 4 months doesn't mean that yours will or that you are doing anything wrong.  Try not to compare your baby to others too much.  Give yourself a pat on the back, it is hard work and daunting and you will get through it.
  • Be fair but make sure they learn that no means no, don't give in it just causes problems for yourself later on.  I had 4 in 3½ years, was hard but just had to stick to my guns, got through it with 4 well behaved kids
  • Trust yourself & don’t worry about what might’ll probably be something different anyway 
  • Keep to a routine and always see the bigger picture, both of these ideas worked for us.
  • Just except that the first few weeks of parenting will be chaotic. Your family will just be getting to know how this little bundle works. You will have tonnes of washing, your house will be a catastrophe but this certainly won't last forever. So except it is what it is and there is not much you can change and dont beat yourself up, your doing an amazing job looking after this little one, especially when they dont come with instructions 🤣
  • Take up all the offers of help even if it means more visitors they can help giving you a bit of time to relax while baby sleeps and they are great at making sure you get a meal and a drink. 
  • Don't forget about yourself i.e. eat and drink. It's easy to forget about yourself and your energy levels go down quickly
  • Trust your own instincts...never compare your childs ilestones to others....and stay away from social media!
