Allybob, so sorry to hear about Nancy, how is she (and you) doing today?

Mum2b, have you checked out 'milk spots' on Google - newborns often get this (boot mine did) in the first few weeks of being born - might thoe spots be that?

Tipping - did baby show up on due date?

We had a settled night! So relieved I feel like crying. Only back to the issue of sorting out her latch so she hurts me less now.

How are you and Nancy doing today Allybob?

She has fed all night without being sick on this prescription which I’m made up about!!

They said in a&e that she has lost 20% of her body weight in 3 days but they have weighed her and now think there was something wrong with the scales and she isn’t much below her birth weight!! Which I’m both extremely pleased about and quite annoyed as I was so upset about her weight loss, felt like I was being accused of not feeding her as I couldn’t see how else she could have lost so much so soon.

more antibiotics today as infection markers are still up but hopeful for discharge tomorrow 🤞🏻

Thanks for asking and glad you had a settled night 🙂

Schmorgan, have you thought about trying nipple shields? I found even when my baby had a perfect latch, my nipples were still wrecked

Allybob, we are SO happy to hear things are moving in the right direction!

Schmorgan my midwives referred me to this organisation www.henry.org.uk they have local branches and are supposed to have lactation specialist who can help with breast feeding advice, latch etc. Just in case you need a point of reference.

I think they may be milk spots Danielle, just that they appeared right after the first try with formula.  They haven't gotten worse and I was forced to use formula again last night so I don't think it's an allergy . Her runny stools stopped too. Might have been her body reacting to the first use of formula.

I really wish there was more support for mums who use formula. My mid wives tried everything to keep me breast feeding exclusively.  I totally agree that breast milk is best. But when my boobs and nipples hurt to the point of agony, baby is restless and hungry surely it's better for mum and baby 's health and mental wellbeing to incorporate formula?

Well my due date was today, still no baby! I did clean the bathroom at 2am tho :) Thank goodness I planned for a home birth, we are having a major storm with heavy rain warnings and all the roads between our place and the two hospitals (north and south of us) are cut off with flooding. Couldn't have a hospital birth even if I wanted too!

Schmorgan, have you been shown how to burp baby thoroughly? Sounds silly I know but air intake during feeding can cause a lot of tummy upset for baby and there are some methods that are much more effective than others for getting the air up. My Grandma taught me as the hospital and midwife didn't show us anything!

Allybob, I hope your wee one is getting better, so scary to have a sick baby. Thankfully they usually recover very quickly.

    Morning Ladies,

Mumtobejune2k18 - totally agree about the support with formula feeding I have had none and am feeding formula as my milk hasn't come in same as it didn't with my first so I hd no choice whether to breast or bottle feed

Allybob - pleased to hear things are improving and fingers crossed you will be home with Nancy tomorrow

Schmorgan - glad to hear you had a settled night

Cheekymonkeys - good luck hope you don't have a too long a wait to meet your new arrival

Rosie is doing really well so I am feeling very blessed she is a good feeder and sleeper its me that's struggling with this open wound and having to change the dressing every couple of hours, on a positive note its not getting any worse but I am impatient and want it healed so I can get on with things its driving me crazy being so housebound and limited to what I can do around the house

    Congratulations Jackie, he is beautiful!!!

how is everyone doing? I’m really struggling to eat and have no appetite at all, does anyone have any experience of this?

    Hi just little update :)

George is 15 days old Now and is a great feeder & sleeper! 5oz every 4 hours.. sometimes goes 5/6 hours depending how hungry he is! He is formula fed! We use cow and gate but I would of used aldi if I had known they did milk! All milk is the same really anyway even the midwife said that they have to have he same ingredients in it just sometimes different quantities! But he is covered in “milk spots“ just keep it clean and it’s all natural!

im fine as had no stitches or anything to recover from 😊 hope everyone else is well!

Congratulations Jackie, Theodore is Adorable - hope you are recovering well

Allybob - I wish I was struggling to eat I can't stop - I really need to get back on track as I have a lot of weight to lose and some healthier foods will hep with healing my wound, its the snacking I can't seem to get under control and after months of suffering with Hyperemesis its so nice to eat normally again

Angel - my little girl is formula fed too she is 17 days old and taking 4oz every 3-4 hour but past 2 days wanting more so think we will increase to 5oz to see if she settled better. Glad to hear you are recovering well with my first I had no tears or stitches so healed quickly which was lovely

I am still struggling with my wound and being impatient, it is looking clean and no sign of infection which is good but i hate having a cavity and just want to have it all healed, I know far too much being a nurse and it worries me it will not heal especially as still got 2 large haematoma above the scar

Hope everyone else is recovering well and enjoying there little ones

Allybob88, I definitely struggled to eat.. I think it's the anxiety for me. Now that is wearing off I'm doing better. Yesterday was the first time I ate properly.

Angel I wish I had no tears to recover from. I ended up with a 2nd degree tear and it's so uncomfortable and sore. Even though I decided I'd rather tear than have an episiotomy unless it was likely to be really bad, it never really crossed my mind that I actually might tear... I was completely unprepared.

NurseJo, sounds like you had a rough time. Hope your recovery goes quick and you and baby are both well.

Hope everyone is doing well 😊

So after 3 failed sweeps and absolutely no sign of baby coming induction is booked for tomorrow at 40+11, from an original due date of the 16/06 it’s crazy to think that potentially depending on how it all goes baby girl could share both mine and my partners birthday of the 29/06!

Spending my last day of complete freedom by blitzing the house, going for a nice girly meal with my mum and auntie and filling out the first part of her baby book (which I’m definitely not crying at 😭)

Hope everyone is doing great and enjoying their babies, we can’t wait to meet ours ❤️

Ah Msdodger, we were just thinking about you. Have to say, you sound EXACTLY like me with both my kids - I went 40+10 and baby came the morning her induction was booked for. With my second, 40+11 and same thing happened. Had untold amount of sweeps, but i think my body knew that whatever was happening, the babies were coming out that day, so it just happened - there's still time for you!

You could try what my friend did - she got on her hands and needs and scrubbed her floor like crazy - she reckons this made her baby come!

PS lovely to see on this thread too.

Congrats everyone!! Our ba ba is now on comfort milk, which has helped massively with colic and wind. She's also having bits of my milk expressed. And we are finally able to suckle from the boob with nipple shields!! A few times a day purely for comfort at the moment until she's more used to it, but it's a start. What's everyone's babies wearing in this heat today? image

Afternoon Ladies, I survived the night flying solo and so far today its a going well as Rosie has basically just slept so I have been bored not being able to do much because of my wound so sorted through some paperwork and watched trash on tv lol

Msdodger lovely to see you here, good luck with the induction enjoy your last night of freedom - I was induced with both my babies. Its crazy when you get that due date you never quite think it will be another date so different Rosie was due 22nd May and DOB 6th June

Struggled in the heat knowing what to put on Rosie, last night I opted for a babygrow with nothing but her nappy underneath as had fan going in bedroom and didn't want her getting cold then at 3am after her bottle put a light weight blanket on as it had cooled down here
